AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator – L2

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 (IBM iSeries) System Administrator at L2 level to manage and support our 24x7 enterprise i environments. You will act as the primary escalation point, ensuring stability, availability, and optimal performance of all i systems.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve escalated incidents beyond L1 support.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimise system performance; produce daily status reports.
• Administer user profiles, service accounts, SSH keys, digital certificates and SSL configurations.
• Manage backup, recovery and BRMS processes, validate restores and support disaster‑recovery testing.
• Oversee storage and tape‑library administration, including disk reclamation and media management.
• Create, modify and schedule jobs using Advanced Job Scheduler; manage job queues and subsystems.
• Configure printer sessions, LAN/remote printers and output queues; resolve spool issues.
• Administer high‑availability and disaster‑recovery environments, monitor replication and support failover drills.
• Apply PTFs, HIPER fixes and cumulative packages; support application deployments across i partitions.
• Coordinate with hardware and software vendors for advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of hands‑on experience administering AS/400 / IBM i environments.
• Proven ability to act as a senior escalation point in a 24x7 operation.
• Strong analytical skills for performance tuning, backup validation and disaster‑recovery planning.
