Procurement Coordinator

About the role

First Quantum Minerals is looking for a Procurement Coordinator to support the Cobre Panamá operation. You will ensure timely and cost‑effective acquisition of goods and services while upholding corporate standards and ethical practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, train and develop the procurement team, including recruitment and performance evaluation of buyers.
• Oversee local and international purchasing activities, analyse commercial proposals, evaluate suppliers and conduct strategic negotiations.
• Develop, monitor and report on procurement KPIs to aid decision‑making.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and optimise the supplier base, prioritising regional and local providers.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, the commercial team and key suppliers.
• Ensure proper use of procurement management and documentation systems.
• Guarantee ethical and procedural compliance throughout the full procurement cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mining or heavy industry procurement.
• Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS) is a plus.
• Proven track record in commercial strategy development, supplier negotiation and business recommendation.
• Experience supervising both local and international purchasing processes.
• Strong knowledge of the local supplier market.
• Advanced conversational English.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle JDE.
