Government Affairs & Policy Senior Manager

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is looking for a Government Affairs & Policy Senior Manager in Panama, within its Communications & Corporate/External Affairs function. The role leads a team in a matrix environment and directs the implementation of new policies and initiatives, working with other departments to build a coordinated, strategic policy agenda focused on consumer health.

Key responsibilities

• Manage managers, supervisors and individual contributors, including performance management and career development conversations.
• Direct the implementation of new policies and initiatives within the Government Affairs department.
• Collaborate with multiple departments to maintain a strategic policy agenda that prioritizes consumer health and health policy issues.
• Implement organizational policy and procedure changes driven by industry standard and regulatory requirement updates.
• Deliver roadmaps and project proposals for government relations initiatives, such as trade association outreach events and grassroots engagement programs.
• Manage team performance through regular feedback and formal performance reviews, and oversee workflow, performance, compliance and budgeted timelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Law, Business or a related field.
• Significant experience in Government Affairs, Public Affairs and/or Health Policy in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, ideally at a similar senior level.
• Strong knowledge of the Cenca political, healthcare and institutional landscape, with established external stakeholder engagement.
• Experience engaging with government authorities, policymakers, industry associations, embassies and other key stakeholders.
• People leadership and/or cross-functional leadership experience.
• Fluent English and Spanish required.
