Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction Assessment Intern

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is seeking a remote intern to support the integration of technology into disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives. This two‑month, full‑time, unpaid internship will be based at the UNDRR Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean (ROAC) and will report to the Risk Knowledge Programme Management Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in advancing technology integration to generate actionable, locally relevant risk insights.
• Support the delivery of indicators 5.1.1 and 5.1.2 of the 2026‑2027 workplan, focusing on digital transformation of risk data.
• Contribute to the development of tools and processes that enable governments and stakeholders to leverage risk data at scale.
• Collaborate with UNDRR staff and external partners to promote innovative solutions for DRR.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree (minimum bachelor level).
• Academic background related to technology, data analysis, disaster risk reduction, or a similar field.
• Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
