Tax & Accounting Specialist

About the role

The Tax & Accounting Specialist will support the execution and control of accounting, tax and social security processes for the company in Panama, ensuring timely compliance with applicable obligations and reliable financial and tax information.

Key responsibilities

• Record and review accounting entries, ensuring proper classification and supporting documentation.
• Perform account reconciliations, identify differences and follow up on resolutions.
• Assist in month‑end close and preparation of financial information for the Finance Management.
• Prepare and validate tax filings, including income tax, ITBMS and applicable withholdings.
• Validate payroll data from HR, ensure consistency with tax filings and social security (CSS) reports.
• Review supplier invoices and related tax withholdings for accuracy.
• Maintain an updated calendar of tax and regulatory deadlines and monitor compliance.
• Provide documentation and information required for audits and tax inspections.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Panamanian accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns and payroll filings.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with Finance Management and external auditors.
