Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Spexs is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build data‑intensive ETL pipelines for its analytics platform. You will own the end‑to‑end flow from source system connections to multi‑tenant, high‑performance fact and dimension tables.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement full‑stack data pipelines, including incremental extraction, CDC, and bulk loading.
• Model dimensional and semantic schemas, manage OLTP/OLAP separation, and ensure query performance at scale.
• Develop and maintain distributed queue systems for reliable job execution and retries.
• Implement observability, testing, and load‑testing for pipeline reliability and freshness.
• Collaborate with product teams to integrate ERP data via APIs or direct database connections.

Required profile

• Proven experience building data‑intensive backend services in a senior role.
• Strong understanding of ETL concepts, incremental sync, and multi‑tenant architecture.
• Ability to write clean, type‑safe TypeScript and work with modular NestJS codebases.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and large‑scale data storage.

Required skills

• Advanced TypeScript (strict typing, no any)
• NestJS with layered architecture
• BullMQ or similar distributed queue system
• PostgreSQL (composite/partial indexes, partitioning, EXPLAIN ANALYZE, PgBouncer)
• Dimensional modeling, OLTP/OLAP separation
• DuckDB, Parquet, columnar file formats, partition pruning
• Object storage (S3, R2) and catalog solutions (DuckLake, Iceberg)
• Redis for caching (TTL, invalidation, multi‑tenant namespacing)
• OpenTelemetry for observability
• k6 for load testing and benchmarking
• OAuth2 token management, rate‑limit handling, circuit breakers
