Legal & Compliance Officer

About the role

The Legal & Compliance Officer will support CIFI Asset Management’s investment business by ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and fund requirements. Reporting to the Board and Managing Partner, the role combines corporate governance, fund structuring and cross‑border regulatory coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee corporate law, governance and statutory matters for CIFI AM and affiliated entities, including board processes, corporate records and filings.
• Lead legal aspects of fund formation, fundraising and documentation, and support investment transactions, waivers, consents and approvals.
• Identify, assess and escalate material legal, structural, jurisdictional and compliance risks.
• Coordinate with local counsel and regulated service providers on LATAM, Cayman and European fund regulatory requirements, licensing, registration and marketing.
• Monitor regulatory developments, manage external counsel relationships and control legal spend across jurisdictions.
• Maintain CIFI AM’s compliance framework covering fund restrictions, conflicts of interest, trade allocation, marketing review, complaints handling, monitoring and training.
• Ensure AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions and integrity compliance within the assigned scope.

Required profile

• Legal professional with extensive experience in corporate law, fund structuring and compliance.
• Proven ability to manage board governance processes and statutory filings.
• Strong knowledge of cross‑border regulatory environments in Latin America, the Caribbean, Cayman and Europe.
• Experience advising senior management and serving as a strategic legal risk manager.
• Excellent coordination skills with external counsel and regulated service providers.
