Forest Management Coordinator – Panama

About the role

The Forest Management Coordinator will drive the expansion of FSC Forest Management certification across Panama. Working closely with forest managers, companies, government agencies and local communities, the coordinator will provide hands‑on technical guidance and training to support both existing and prospective certificate holders.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new opportunities for Forest Management and Chain of Custody certification throughout Panama.
• Serve as the primary contact and trusted advisor for current and prospective FSC certificate holders.
• Provide technical guidance, on‑site support and audit preparation for organizations pursuing certification.
• Design and deliver training workshops, capacity‑building activities and practical resources to facilitate FSC standards implementation.
• Conduct regular field visits to assess needs, address challenges and promote continuous improvement.
• Support the FSC Cluster team in stakeholder meetings, events and strategic partnership development.

Required profile

• University degree in Forestry, Forest Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agroforestry, Agronomy, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in forestry, sustainable forest management, certification or environmental management.
• Proven experience working directly with forest managers, owners, companies or certification holders.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver training, workshops and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder engagement experience with public, private and civil‑society organisations.
• Experience providing practical technical support in field‑based environments.
• Familiarity with FSC certification systems and standards is highly desirable.
• Established professional network within Panama’s forestry and environmental sectors is an asset.
• Project management and organisational skills, with willingness to travel frequently to remote locations.
