Finance Assistant

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support the Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean (ROPAN) in Panama, working under the guidance of the UNODC ROPAN Representative and the direct supervision of the Assistant Administrative Officer. The role focuses on processing payments, managing cash, and supporting financial reporting in line with UN regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide service payments to third parties, consultants, vendors, UN service providers and staff reimbursements.
• Review and process payments promptly and accurately according to UN Financial Regulations and Rules.
• Prepare fund commitments, reconcile inter‑office vouchers and monitor payment statuses.
• Act as Petty Cash Custodian, ensuring timely replenishment and accurate reporting.
• Liaise with UN Financial Services to clear receivables and net payments.
• Extract and analyse financial data from SAP/Umoja, SharePoint Financial Dashboard and other systems for reporting, year‑end close and accruals.
• Assist in preparing non‑core yearly cost estimates, data presentations and reports for decision‑making.
• Perform other finance‑related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Works under the guidance of the UNODC ROPAN Representative and supervision of the Assistant Administrative Officer.
• Knowledge of UN Financial Regulations and Rules.

Required skills

• SAP (Umoja) financial system.
• SharePoint Financial Dashboard.
• Financial analysis and reporting.
