Controller – Finance & Accounting

About the role

Monjasa is seeking a Controller to join its finance team in Panama. The role offers the chance to work in an international, fast‑paced trading environment, handling detailed accounting and controlling tasks while collaborating with colleagues across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of accounting and controlling activities across the profit & loss and balance sheet.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including reconciliations.
• Manage inventory, costing and related financial controls in a transaction‑heavy setting.
• Prepare financial reports and provide analysis to support business decisions.
• Coordinate audit activities and liaise with auditors.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Work hands‑on in the ERP system and Excel, reviewing and improving financial workflows.
• Collaborate with finance colleagues and stakeholders in Panama and internationally.

Required profile

• Solid professional experience in accounting and controlling.
• Strong understanding of balance sheet, profit & loss and underlying accounting principles.
• Experience with financial closing, reconciliations and reporting.
• Background in inventory‑intensive environments such as commodities, logistics or trading (beneficial but not required).
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Navision.
