Abogado de Recuperación y Gestión Legal de Cartera (1‑year contract)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated lawyer to lead extrajudicial and judicial collection activities for a micro‑finance institution in Panama. The role involves negotiating payment agreements, managing court proceedings, and supervising external law firms to ensure effective portfolio recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Contact debtors and guarantors, negotiate payment plans or dation in payment, and conduct field visits to residences and businesses.
• Prepare and file executive, summary, and ordinary lawsuits, request and enforce precautionary measures such as seizures, and represent the entity in hearings and courts.
• Audit and supervise external law firms, maintain judicial logs and case files, and produce technical reports on irrecoverable accounts for loss provisioning.

Required profile

• Law degree (with political science) and a valid license to practice.
• Current driver’s license and personal vehicle.
• 3‑5 years of experience in delinquent portfolio collection, executive processes, and civil/commercial litigation within financial institutions.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to assess cost‑benefit of legal actions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word).
• Experience using electronic judicial platforms.
• Knowledge of collection management systems.
