Azure Data Architect

About the role

Experienced professional in cloud data platform design who has led the modernization of legacy ETL workloads to lakehouse architectures. The role requires making design decisions with incomplete information, documenting them auditable, and providing technical support to a small team of up to three engineers or developers.

Key responsibilities

• Reverse engineer production Alteryx workflows, SSIS packages and SQL Server jobs to uncover undocumented dependencies, patches and implicit logic.
• Audit and validate reports generated by automated analysis agents against source data, resolving discrepancies.
• Define and formalize ingestion patterns, partitioning, data typing, naming conventions, scalability strategies and security policies in Unity Catalog.
• Approve design plans before automated code generation and act as the technical authority for exception handling and business ambiguities.
• Serve as mandatory technical approver for pull‑requests to protected branches (pre‑prod / main).

Required profile

• Proven experience designing cloud data architectures, not merely implementing existing designs.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Apache Spark in production environments.
