Staff Chemist (Environmental)

About the role

Langan is seeking a Staff Chemist to join its environmental team in Panama. The successful candidate will support engineering research and analysis for land development and environmental projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals across the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate environmental laboratory data.
• Write data validation reports and prepare result tables for project teams.
• Provide technical support to field sampling teams and act as liaison between project teams, analytical laboratories, and data management.
• Travel with project teams to collect environmental samples as needed.
• Perform additional duties as requested.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
• Experience performing environmental sample extraction and analysis.
• Experience validating laboratory data under USEPA CERCLA and RCRA programs (SW‑846, EPA 200/500/600 series) – a plus.
• Prior internship or professional experience in an environmental consulting firm or lab – a plus.
• Knowledge of state regulations – a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and multitasking ability.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Reliable transportation for client meetings.
