Senior Backend Engineer – TypeScript & AI (Remote)

About the role

As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design and build distributed systems that process massive data sets, combining strong TypeScript expertise with large‑scale data processing and vector search. You will work on Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and integrate Large Language Model (LLM) APIs to enable AI‑driven functionality that reliably reasons over real data.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain distributed backend services handling large‑scale data processing.
• Design, implement, and optimise PostgreSQL databases with vector search capabilities (e.g., pgvector, Qdrant).
• Build RAG pipelines, including data chunking, embedding strategies, and integration with LLM APIs.
• Implement event‑driven messaging workflows using AWS SQS, RabbitMQ, or BullMQ.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver AI‑enhanced features and ensure system reliability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and backend development.
• Hands‑on experience with distributed systems and large‑scale data processing (e.g., Apache Spark).
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and vector‑search databases.
• Experience building RAG pipelines and working with LLM APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Bedrock.
• Proficiency in English.
