Microbiology Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a Microbiology Supervisor to lead the biodiversity programmes linked to the Cobre Panama project. The role will oversee the in‑vitro plant propagation laboratory, seed bank and native‑plant nurseries, ensuring compliance with the environmental impact commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Implement biodiversity programmes in line with Environmental Impact Assessment commitments, focusing on Category III studies.
• Manage the Micropropagation Laboratory to produce and conserve plant species of interest for the project.
• Supervise the seed bank and native‑plant nurseries, coordinating restoration activities on‑ and off‑site.
• Ensure laboratory safety, data integrity and reporting to the ESIA team.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate microbiological and ecological data.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a focus on Microbiology and Parasitology; a degree or master’s in Microbiology, Biotechnology or a related field is preferred.
• Specialised training in plant tissue culture and seed conservation is an advantage.
• Minimum three years of experience coordinating or supervising microbiology or in‑vitro propagation labs.
• Proven experience with endangered or rare plant species and laboratory management.
