Manager of Propulsion & Structures

About the role

Copa Airlines is seeking a Manager of Propulsion & Structures to lead a team of engineers responsible for propulsion systems and airframe structures across its fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft. The role focuses on enhancing reliability, safety, compliance, and cost efficiency through engineering projects, modifications, and technical support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers delivering propulsion and structural engineering projects.
• Oversee aircraft modifications, special repairs, and engineering solutions ensuring timely, compliant execution.
• Provide technical support to Maintenance and Technical Procurement teams.
• Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, airworthiness directives, and manufacturer requirements.
• Manage engineering programs for CFM56 engines and structural components.
• Drive data‑driven initiatives to improve fleet reliability and operational efficiency.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for propulsion and structural issues.
• Collaborate with OEMs (Boeing, CFM) and MRO providers on repair and maintenance solutions.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce maintenance costs and optimize engineering processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8–10 years of aircraft engineering or maintenance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong experience with Boeing 737 NG/MAX platforms.
• Deep technical knowledge of CFM56 engines and aircraft structures.
• Proven track record leading engineering projects, modifications, and repair programs.
• Extensive collaboration experience with Maintenance, Supply Chain, OEM, and MRO partners.
