Inspector II

About the role

The Inspector II conducts routine inspections at petroleum and petrochemical terminals, refineries, barges and ships. Working under Saybolt procedures, the role ensures safety, compliance and accurate product handling across a range of fuels and chemicals.

Key responsibilities

• Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks, including confined‑space entry.
• Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment and take product measurements and samples.
• Calculate volumes, weights and rates, complete inventories and prepare clear inspection reports.
• Execute bunkering inspections and non‑petroleum/chemical inspection assignments as required.
• Follow all safety, quality and procedural requirements outlined in Saybolt and Core Laboratories manuals.
• Attend mandatory training and pass examinations on petroleum procedures, hazardous‑materials handling and right‑to‑know regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year of related experience or a comparable education/experience mix.
• Ability to read, analyze and write technical materials and reports in English.
• Strong mathematical ability for calculations, ratios, percentages and interpolation of data tables.
• Problem‑solving skills to address practical issues with limited standardization.
