Go Backend Engineer

About the role

Plan A Technologies is seeking an experienced Go Backend Engineer to shape the technical roadmap of its internal developer platform. You will design, build, and maintain high‑performance Go microservices that support the entire engineering organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define and champion Go best practices, open standards, and a best‑in‑class developer experience.
• Develop, scale, and operate concurrent Go microservices for CI/CD, monorepos, feature flags, and observability.
• Design and maintain internal Go tools and APIs (gRPC/REST) that guide engineers along the "golden path" for development and deployment.
• Partner with internal engineering teams to translate pain points into reliability, scalability, and quality improvements.
• Build advanced automated systems, including AI‑driven workflows, to boost operational efficiency.
• Establish standards for Go system reliability, performance tuning, profiling, benchmarking, and monitoring (SLAs/SLOs).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development with deep, hands‑on Go experience in large‑scale production.
• Proven ability to influence technical decisions and lead complex projects.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and excellent English communication.

Required skills

• Go (Golang) – idioms, concurrency (goroutines, channels), memory management, Go modules, pprof, testing frameworks.
• gRPC and REST API development.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• CI/CD pipelines, internal developer portals (e.g., Backstage).
• Service meshes (Istio, Envoy) and large‑scale platform components.
• Kubernetes extensions: Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) and operators.
