Event Communications Coordinator – IUCN World PCA Congress 2027

About the role

The Event Communications Coordinator will lead all communication activities for the IUCN World Protected and Conserved Areas Congress 2027, ensuring consistent messaging before, during, and after the event. Reporting to the Senior Global Communications Manager, the role works closely with the Global Convenings and Events Unit, the Regional Office for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, the host country, and the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary communications focal point, coordinating between the IUCN Secretariat, host country, and WCPA.
• Develop and maintain the event communication timeline, budget updates, and progress reports.
• Produce all corporate event communications and marketing materials in English, French, and Spanish, including website content, newsletters, and press releases.
• Source and manage photos and video assets, and oversee translation processes.
• Support international, regional, and national media relations in collaboration with IUCN press officers.
• Set up monitoring and reporting mechanisms aligned with strategic communication goals.
• Assist in creating and executing the on‑site communications plan during the congress.

Required profile

• Proven experience in event communications or marketing, preferably within international or nonprofit settings.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
• Fluency in English, French, and Spanish for content creation and translation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Required skills

• Website content management (CMS) and basic HTML editing.
