Commissioning Engineer

About the role

ABB is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support Marine & Ports projects within its Process Automation business. You will take technical ownership of commissioning scopes for low to medium complexity projects, guiding activities from planning through final customer acceptance. The role operates in a hybrid work model, collaborating closely with project management, engineering, installation, quality, HSE, customers and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and coordinate commissioning activities, including schedules, resources, test‑equipment, method statements, risk assessments and permits.
• Execute technical commissioning and acceptance testing such as FAT/SAT, functional testing, protection and control verification, LV/MV electrical system checks, troubleshooting, energisation and final hand‑over.
• Manage commissioning interfaces and technical risks by communicating design or installation deviations and ensuring corrective actions are tracked.
• Produce and maintain commissioning documentation, including test records, punch lists, reports, as‑built feedback and lessons learned.
• Support continuous improvement of commissioning processes and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably within ports or marine environments.
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage technical risks.
