Accounting Assistant

About the role

Blue Polaris is seeking a dependable Accounting Assistant to support its Panama operations. This hands‑on position involves day‑to‑day bookkeeping, transaction management, reconciliations, and financial reporting while working closely with the Finance Manager and the broader finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain financial transactions using double‑entry bookkeeping principles.
• Enter, categorize, and reconcile transactions in QuickBooks and Zoho Books.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Use Microsoft Excel to analyze data, prepare schedules, and support accounting processes.
• Assist in preparing accrual‑basis and cash‑basis income statements and other reports.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Collaborate with management to continuously improve accounting processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently.
• Proficient English communication skills for business conversations.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks (minimum 2 years).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Knowledge of double‑entry bookkeeping and international accounting principles.
