Academic Program Manager

About the role

Austral Group is seeking an Academic Program Manager to design, plan and manage academic, business and cultural itineraries for student and executive travel programs across Central and North America. The role is remote, with occasional on‑site travel to accompany client groups.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and create academically challenging itineraries that include company visits, cultural activities and virtual components.
• Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, universities, government agencies and non‑profits in Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico and North America to source academic content.
• Collaborate with clients and commercial managers during proposal and planning stages to tailor itineraries.
• Arrange and attend high‑level executive presentations for MBA/EMBA and other executive programs.
• Accompany clients to business meetings, facilitate discussions, and support cultural outings such as museum visits and sports events.
• Maintain daily contact with business executives via phone, email and face‑to‑face meetings.
• Travel occasionally to be present with groups on the ground.

Required profile

• Self‑starting leader comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong focus on operational excellence and client satisfaction.
• Deep understanding of the business, economic and educational landscape in Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico and North America.
• Ability to research new business trends and develop professional relationships with senior executives.
• Flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work remotely.
• Current residence in Panama, Costa Rica, Seattle, San Francisco, Miami or Austin.
