Support in the Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems Data – Internship

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is seeking a motivated intern to support data activities for its Multi‑Hazard Early Warning Systems (MHEWS) under the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative. The position is based in Panama City for a six‑month period and contributes to global efforts to protect communities by 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing data related to multi‑hazard early warning systems.
• Support the analysis of risk‑informed, multi‑sectorial datasets to inform early warning governance.
• Contribute to the documentation of EW4All pillars, including disaster risk knowledge and forecasting.
• Collaborate with UNDRR staff and partner organisations to ensure data consistency and accessibility.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a university programme related to disaster risk reduction, environmental science, data management or a similar field.
• Strong interest in early warning systems and climate‑change adaptation.
• Ability to work in an international, multicultural environment.
